The results of the FOTORUAT photo competition

Summary

On 13 April 2021 an exhibition of the results of the photo competition FOTORUAT was opened. The exhibition was organised at the initiative of the Sochi Dialogue, a Russian-Austrian public forum, and came ahead of the session "Protecting Cultural Heritage: A Russian-Austrian Cooperation Space".

Welcoming speech was made by Vladimir Sinyukov, Vice-Rector for Research of Kutafin University, Maria Matveeva, Director of the Sochi Dialogue, and Evgenia Chernova, Head of Public and Cultural Programmes of the Austrian Friendship Society. Ekaterina Miloslavova, winner of the photo competition in the Youth Z Category, also gave a short speech.

The FOTORUAT photo project is a space for creative interaction between talented, independent and thoughtful young people from both countries, bringing together photography enthusiasts, beginners and professional photographers.

In 2020, the location of the photo competition has expanded. More than 480 participants aged 14 to 35 from Moscow, Perm, Belgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Novosibirsk, Vienna, Baden, Salzburg, Linz and Fürstenfeld sent in their photos. From more than 1200 images, the professional jury selected winners and runners-up in the categories: "Photojournalism" (dedicated to the Russia-Austria Cross Year of Literature and Theatre 2020-2021), "Ecologically Significant. Useful Habits", "City. Cultural Code 2.0", "Mobile Photography", "Youth Z" (14-17 years old), "Youth Y" (18-21 years old), Special Prize. The exhibition will present 20 best works of the participants in all categories.

The organiser of the photo competition is the Regional Non-Governmental Organisation "Austrian Friendship Society". The Austrian Institute in Moscow was a partner of the Photo Contest. The event was supported by the Russian-Austrian Public Forum "Sochi Dialogue", Russian House in Vienna, Austrian Cultural Forum in Moscow. Regional partner - German Centre NSTU (Novosibirsk).
