One of the key items on the agenda is the presentation of the online course "History of Austria and the project of Russian-Austrian relations" on the Coursera platform.

The course of lectures is a joint project of Russian and Austrian historians, prepared on the basis of the scientific publication "Russia - Austria: milestones of common history" (editors in charge Stefan Karner and Alexander Chubarian). The course aims to form a systematic view of the history of Austria and its relations with Russia from ancient times to the present days.

The project was implemented under the auspices of the Russian-Austrian Commission of Historians, the key organizer is the Russian State University for the Humanities, and the project partner is the Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. The project was implemented with the support of the Russian-Austrian Public Forum "Sochi Dialogue".

The history of Russian-Austrian relations is of interest to the younger generation. This was stated by the co-chairman of the Russian-Austrian public forum "Sochi Dialogue Andrey Fursenko. He noted the enormous contribution to the study and teaching of national history made by Alexander Chubarian, co-chair of the Russian Historical Society, co-chair of the Russian-Austrian Commission of Historians, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, scientific director of the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Alexander Chubaryan stated that while previously the Commission's activity was focused on science, the new course pursues educational goals. At the same time, he stressed that the educational programs "must be enriched with the latest scientific achievements.

"Turning to the educational side allows us to reach a new audience - youth,

Currently, users of the educational platform can access materials on the history of Austria from ancient times to the beginning of the XX century and Russian-Austrian relations during this period.

The next step in the development of the course will be the preparation and recording of the lectures about the events of the XX century. Austrian scientists will be involved to cooperate. Olga Pavlenko, the first vice-rector of the Russian State University for the Humanities, told about it. She stressed that the course organizers from both countries are in close dialogue and use a balanced approach to the information taught on the course.

Co-chair of the Russian-Austrian Commission of Historians Stefan Karner, representative of the Embassy of the Republic of Austria in the Russian Federation, Envoy Robert Gershner, and Deputy Director of the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Olga Vladimirovna Khavanova also took part in the meeting.

The presentation was followed by a scientific colloquium "Man at War: On the 80th Anniversary of the Great Patriotic War". Its theme is the analysis of archival evidence, which reflects the war perception of specific people from both sides of the front line, including those who were in the rear and in captivity. Particular attention is paid to the fates of individual nations and ethnic groups.

The session at the House of the Russian Historical Society was organized by the Russian-Austrian Public Forum Sochi Dialogue, the Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for the Study of the Effects of War (Graz).
