Summary

To mark World Mental Health Day (10 October), the Russian-Austrian Public Forum «Sochi Dialogue» in collaboration with MGIMO and the Moscow Institute of Psychoanalysis, with the participation of the Centre for Clinical and Applied Psychoanalysis, organised a major event - a Psychological Conference hosted by MGIMO on Saturday 15th October 2022.

The idea for the project emerged in a nod to the psychological theory of the late 19th century by Austrian psychiatrist Sigmund Freud, which revolutionised the way the human psyche was perceived (psychoanalysis). Freud's psychoanalysis quickly gained popularity and was widely followed in the writings of a number of scholars, including Alfred Adler and Carl Jung, Erich Fromm and Jacques Lacan.

There were thematic lectures, seminars and workshops throughout the day, not only on psychoanalysis and its application in life and business, but also on self-determination, self-care in crisis situations and art therapy.

Throughout the conference day, there were psychological support centres. Everyone could get qualified support in the form of individual consultations from psychologists of MGIMO workshop «Insight».

Leading professors from MGIMO, the Centre for Clinical and Applied Psychoanalysis and the Moscow Institute of Psychoanalysis - Anastasia Stepanovna Karpenko, Tahir Yusupovich Bazarov, Guli Bazarova, Leila Sabra and others were among the speakers.

The conference was attended by members of the professional association as well as students. Among the Austrian guests were: Irina Giallani, CEO of PROGRESS IV Management GmbH, Herbert Martin, President of the International Geopolitical Institute in Vienna, Vera Pletneva, psychologist and founder of WHAT TO DO Praxis (Vienna) and others.
