Summary

The first session " Trilogue of dialogues": St. Petersburg, Sochi, Trianon" focuses on the mechanisms of bilateral interaction between Russia and the western countries, such as the Russian-German St. Petersburg Dialogue, the Russian-French Trianon Dialogue and the Russian-Austrian Sochi Dialogue.

The forums were presented by their co-chairmen: V.A. Zubkov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PJSC Gazprom, M. Hoffmann, Executive Director of the St. Petersburg Dialogue Forum , A.V. Torkunov, MGIMO Rector; Ambassador P.Morel; A.A.Fursenko, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation; K.Leutl, Honorary President of the Austrian Chamber of Economy, President of the European Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Eurochambres. The meeting was moderated by Ekaterina Trofimova, Partner at Deloitte CIS.

V.A. Zubkov emphasised that the Russian-German St Petersburg dialogue has not stopped working even in difficult periods. The dialogue has aroused great interest among the public of the two countries. All working groups of the Forum - more than 150 people from each side - will gather in Bonn on July 18. "The very form of the dialogue promotes informal human interaction," stressed M. Hoffmann.

P. Morel reminded the audience that the Trianon Dialogue has a kind of anniversary today - exactly a year ago, at SPIEF 2018, there was a meeting of the Coordinating Council and a meeting with the Presidents of Russia and France, Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron.

A. Fursenko, co-chair of the Sochi Dialogue, stressed that humanitarian relations between the countries not only go along with the development of the economic and political agenda, but also largely determine bilateral relations. "Today, perhaps, more than ever before, interpersonal dialogue, dialogue between people, is of great importance. And this is also an educational problem. It is not about getting degrees, but about understanding each other better. <...> Remember the FIFA World Cup. <...> It was just a wonderful platform where people looked and saw that in general what they read is not quite what it really is," said Andrei Fursenko.
