Daniil Kramer is a unique figure in Russian jazz, a versatile pianist and arranger who has a keen sense of various styles.
He considers his "claim to fame" to be the so-called "Jazz Games." For several years now, Daniil Kramer has been inviting his colleagues from the jazz community to play together, turning concerts into thrilling "duels" or engaging discussions on a given musical theme.
"The 'Jazz Games' is my 'label,'" the artist explains. "This name was conceived and born after a long process. After all, I'm not just a jazz musician, but a person from different worlds – I play classical, jazz, rock, funk, a little blues; you can't call it all pure jazz. I just relate to it as music. But there's no label 'musician' in nature, yet the audience inevitably evaluates, sorts, and categorizes everyone." "What I do is ambiguous; I do everything I can and try to do it in a way that jazz isn't just entertainment but becomes deeper. On the other hand, compared to classical music (with its centuries-old history), jazz is still young, it's a somewhat childish art, it still has to mature. So, in a sense, I'm playing with it, but playing very seriously, trying to present jazz at a different level – playing jazz as a serious academic might see it, on one hand, playing as a jazz musician and as a musician inclined to synthesizing genres and styles, on the other."
The musician tours extensively abroad – both in an exclusively jazz role and as a soloist in symphonic orchestra concerts. He plays with many European performers and ensembles, participates in jazz and classical festivals such as Munchner Klaviersommer (Germany), Manly Jazz Festival (Australia), European Jazz Festival (Spain), Baltic Jazz Festival (Finland), and Foire de Paris (France). This time, he will perform his captivating jazz rhythms in one of Europe's cultural capitals, Vienna (Austria), with the support of the Russian-Austrian Forum "Sochi Dialogue."
The Vienna program features Daria Chernakova on double bass, a highly sought-after musician on the Russian jazz scene. In 2015, she graduated from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, studying classical double bass under the guidance of People's Artist of Russia Rustem Gabdullin.
The highly respected American publication DownBeat recognizes Daria's brilliant command of academic musical techniques, rhythmic flexibility, and improvisational talent.
She has performed with American jazz musicians at the Lionel Hampton Festival and in renowned clubs such as Jazz Alley (Seattle, USA), Smalls (New York, USA), Blue Note (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), JazzB (São Paulo, Brazil), and Café com letras (Belo Horizonte, Brazil). She has participated in concert tours across Russia, Europe, the USA, and Brazil as part of ensembles with Alex Sipiagin, Vincent Herring, John Marshall, Robert Anchipolovskiy, Eric Alexander, Daniel Marques, and has also played with jazz stars such as Randy Brecker, Jerry Bergonzi, Victor Lewis, Marcos Valle, Conrad Herwig, Gregory Hutchinson, Will Vinson, Grant Stewart, Gil Goldstein, Ari Hoenig, Celso Fonseca, André Marques, and many others.
The concert of stars from the Russian jazz scene will be opened by Aigerim Tutova (Kazakhstan), a finalist of many international music festivals and competitions. Aigerim has bilateral neurosensorial hearing loss of the 4th degree. Despite this, she successfully graduated from a general education school-gymnasium, completed a master's program in "Defectologist - Surdopedagogue" at the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abay, and currently works as a surdopedagogue at the National Scientific and Practical Center for the Development of Special and Inclusive Education.
Aigerim's greatest passion besides her work is singing. She sings in Russian, Kazakh, and English languages. Her favorite musical genre is jazz. Aigerim hears thanks to cochlear implants from one of the Forum's permanent partners, the Austrian company MED-EL, a technological leader in the field of hearing restoration.
