Summary

The civil society forum "Sochi Dialogue" successfully held its final event of 2019. As part of this event, on December 9, former Austrian Foreign Minister

Karin Kneissl presented a Russian-language edition of her children's book “Prince Eugene. From obscurity to European recognition” at the Pushkin Museum in Moscow. This event aroused great interest among the Russian intellectual elite. The guests of the event were welcomed by the co-chairman of the Sochi Dialogue, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation A. A. Fursenko and the Director of the Pushkin Museum M. D. Loshak.

Among the honored guests of the presentation were Austrian ambassador to Moscow Johannes Aigner, employees of the Austrian Embassy in Moscow and other prominent state, public, scientific and cultural figures.

This project of the Sochi Dialogue opened a series of events related to the translation and publication of artistic and journalistic works by Austrian and Russian authors.

On the same day, K.Kneissl held a lecture to students of MGIMO University on the topic "The role of global politics on the example of relations between Russia, China and Europe". The report aroused genuine interest of the audience. Karin Kneissl also answered students’ questions concerning various aspects of the international agenda.

Karin Kneissl also held lecture and made a presentation for students and schoolchildren at the Moscow State Linguistic University — the flagship linguistic university of Russia.

On December 10, at the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry, within the framework of the project "Global Conversation", K. Kneissl gave a speech on the topic: "The disappearance of the art of diplomacy – when pre-planned theses replace real conversation." K. Kneissl spoke in detail about the main trends in modern diplomacy and stressed the need to establish a dialogue to solve important international problems.

The event was attended by students, postgraduates and teaching staff of the Academy.

Karin Kneissl's visit under the auspices of the Sochi Dialogue Civil Society Forum was a bright social event that generated sincere interest among students, heads of universities and heads of state departments. The presentation also received wide coverage in the Russian and foreign media.
