International Scientific and Practical Conference "Intercultural Interaction as a Factor in Preserving Traditional Spiritual and Moral Values"
On Wednesday, February 12, the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Intercultural Interaction as a Factor in Preserving Traditional Spiritual and Moral Values" was held at the Ladoga business space.
The event was organized by the Centralized Religious Organization "International Islamic Mission" and Moscow State Linguistic University (MSLU), with the support of the Foundation for the Support of Islamic Culture, Science, and Education and the RIA Novosti news agency. The goal of the conference was to identify public mechanisms for preserving and promoting spiritual and moral values in the modern world.
At the official opening ceremony, welcoming speeches were delivered by:
• Evgeny Yeremin, Head of the Department for Interaction with Religious Organizations of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation for Domestic Policy;
• Maria Zakharova, Official Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
• Mikhail Gryaznov, Director of the Foundation for the Support of Islamic Culture, Science, and Education;
• Shafig Pshikhachev, Chairman of the Centralized Religious Organization "International Islamic Mission";
• Irina Kraeva, Rector of Moscow State Linguistic University (MSLU);
• Talgat Tadzhuddin, Supreme Mufti of Russia, Chairman of the Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia, Sheikh-ul-Islam;
• Representatives of the diplomatic missions of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the State of Qatar, and the Permanent Mission of Tatarstan, along with other distinguished guests of the event.
A welcome speech was also given by A.Y. Kuznetsova, Deputy Chairwoman of the State Duma.
As part of the plenary session, Maria Dmitrievna Matveeva, Director of the Russian-Austrian Public Forum "Sochi Dialogue" and curator of the Russian-Iranian Scientific Conference at RSUH, delivered a presentation on the topic "Public Dialogues as a Tool of Scientific and Cultural Diplomacy on The Example of the Russian-Austrian Sochi Dialogue."
In her speech, Maria Dmitrievna emphasized the role of civil society dialogue platforms as a significant non-state actor whose activities contribute to advancing national interests and shaping an objective perception of Russia abroad. She highlighted the importance of scientific and technological achievements as key elements of these dialogues.
After the plenary session, the conference topics were further discussed in three sections: "Intercultural Interaction as a Tool for Preserving and Promoting Traditional Spiritual and Moral Values.", "Instruments and Mechanisms for Shaping Traditional Spiritual and Moral Values in the Modern World: Establishing Effective Methods to Counteract the Propagation of Destructive Ideologies.", "Modern Media as a Tool for Creating a Positive Image of Traditional Spiritual and Moral Values."
The conference concluded with the adoption of a resolution and an appeal to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, in which the participants emphasized the importance of consolidating the efforts of educational, religious, and public organizations to preserve and pass on traditional values to future generations.
