Dialog eCup 2026: The Sixth Chapter in the Football Story of Two Countries
When traditional diplomacy searches for new formats, esports takes center stage. In March 2026, the sixth international interactive football tournament Dialog eCup will begin under the auspices of the Russian-Austrian public forum Sochi Dialogue.
“There is no place for political context at the tournaments organized by the Sochi Dialogue. What unites the players is a shared interest in esports. It is a great example of how young people from different countries find a common language,” emphasized the Chairman of the Forum, A.A. Fursenko.
The journey of Dialog eCup began in 2019. Since then, the tournament has become a unique platform with no equivalent in the bilateral relations between Russia and Austria. Over the past five years, more than 1,200 players have taken part in virtual matches.
For many participants, this is not just a competition but a long-awaited event. This year, 200 players from Russia and Austria will once again cross gamepads in EA FC 26 to determine on whose side football fortune and skill will prevail.
The tournament has always been known for its intense competition:
- In 2023, Russian esports players swept the podium, with Daniil “Abeldos” Abeldyaev taking gold, while Fabio Oselt was the highest-ranked Austrian player.
- In 2024 and 2025, interest in the tournament continued to grow: organizers noted that more than half of the participants returned to compete again, confirming Dialog eCup’s status as a strong community of like-minded players.
What awaits us in 2026?
The sixth season promises to be the most technologically advanced yet. Participants will compete not only for the prestigious trophy but also for valuable prizes — ranging from the latest iPhone 17 to next-generation gaming accessories.
Tournament schedule
- Russian qualifiers: March 7, 8, 10, and 11
- Austrian qualifiers: March 14 and 15
- Grand Final: March 21
Dialog eCup 2026 is more than just a game. It is a bridge between Vienna and Moscow, laid across virtual stadiums. While players refine their skills and tactics, the Sochi Dialogue continues to fulfill its main mission: maintaining a living and open channel of communication between representatives of civil society in both countries.
