Russian Ambassador to Austria D.E. Lyubinsky welcomed the numerous guests:
“December 12 is Constitution Day in Russia. I would like to congratulate my Russian colleagues on this holiday.
With great pleasure, I welcome all guests of the Embassy to the concert dedicated to the conclusion of Russia's BRICS Chairmanship. I believe that there is no need to explain what this format of cooperation is, what its goals and objectives are. I will only briefly highlight the results of Russia's work this year.
In total, more than 250 events of various levels were held. The key event was the summit in Kazan on October 22-24, which marked the opening of a new stage in the development of BRICS. Delegations from 35 countries and six international organizations took part in it.
The shared commitment to strengthening coordination on international platforms has been reaffirmed, including on issues of reforming global governance and the world monetary and financial system, combating contemporary challenges and threats such as terrorism, corruption, and illegal drug trafficking. Guidelines for the institutional strengthening and further consolidation of BRICS strategic partnership have been outlined. A commitment to developing dialogue with countries of the Global South and East in the «Outreach/BRICS Plus» format has been expressed. The Russian chairmanship invited leaders of CIS countries, as well as delegations from many states in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, along with heads of executive bodies of several international organizations, to such a meeting in Kazan.
During the Russian chairmanship, several important initiatives were launched, including projects to establish the BRICS Grain Exchange, Geological Platform, and Investment Platform. The need to expand cooperation in the financial track was emphasized, particularly to increase the share of national currencies in mutual settlements and within established mechanisms in the fields of transportation and nuclear medicine. Key outcomes of the Russian chairmanship in the payment sector included the BRICS cross-border payment initiative, the concept of the BRICS Bridge platform for cross-border payments, and projects implemented under the BRICS Business Council to create alternative channels for international payments.
The new format of interaction will also include meetings of the heads of parliamentary committees on international affairs. A corresponding protocol to the Memorandum on the BRICS Parliamentary Forum has been signed.
During Russia's «watch» year in BRICS, special emphasis was also placed on the development of contacts in the cultural and humanitarian sphere. The International Film Festival and the BRICS Cultural Festival were successfully held, and the Alliance of Folk Dance Culture and the Association of Film Schools were established.
As noted by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the strength and huge potential of BRICS lies in its civilizational diversity and unique combination of national traditions. All member countries of the association stand for equality, good-neighborliness and mutual respect.
As the Chinese wisdom says: a good friend is a real treasure. And in Russia they used to say: a strong friendship cannot be broken with an axe! And I remembered these sayings not by chance. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Russian-Chinese diplomatic relations. And at present, Russia and China continue to strengthen their bilateral comprehensive partnership and defend common tasks of ensuring stability in Eurasia and the world.
We consider today's concert as a small contribution to the expansion of our multifaceted ties. After all, our soloist Angel Stanislav Wong, despite his young age, is already a laureate of many international competitions, including the winner of the second prize and silver medalist of the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2023.
I would also like to thank the Sochi Dialogue Forum for their assistance in organizing the concert.
I pass the baton to great music!
Meet the wonderful Angel Wong!”
