Austrian Holidays

In April 2025, Moscow hosted the “Austrian Holidays” project, implemented by the Russian-Austrian Public Forum Sochi Dialogue as part of the initiative to promote the Russian language and the cultures of the peoples of Russia.

On the first day, April 16, guests were welcomed by the organizing team. The eventful program began with a sightseeing tour of Vorobyovy Gory, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of Moscow. The group then proceeded to Red Square, where they admired the iconic St. Basil’s Cathedral. Following this, participants enjoyed a walk through the historic city center, during which they visited GUM and tasted the famous Moscow ice cream. Continuing their excursion, the guests visited Alexander Garden and took part in a guided tour of the Kremlin. The visit to this landmark left a lasting impression, and after the tour, they witnessed the ceremonial changing of the guard. Thus, the first day concluded on a solemn and picturesque note.

On the second day, April 17, the program began at the Russian State University for the Humanities, where a roundtable discussion was held on the topic of Russian-Austrian youth cooperation. Participants shared their impressions of the Russian language and culture, offering personal stories about why they chose to study Russian. Particular attention was drawn to the presentation by an Austrian student, who spoke about student organizations in Austria and opportunities for youth to engage in international cooperation. The event concluded with the development of a joint project — the “Russian-Austrian Youth Union” — aimed at strengthening ties between young people from both countries.

After the productive session, participants visited the National Center of Russia, where they explored the exhibition “Journey Across Russia”, showcasing the cultural, natural, and historical landmarks, major achievements, and innovative developments of all federal districts of the country.

The second day concluded with a visit to the Tretyakov Gallery, where guests admired the beauty of artworks housed in the museum’s main historical building. The visitors were deeply impressed by what they saw and gave high praise to the overall organization of the events.
